Our Philosophy

“To develop & promote independent living by nurturing and respecting the rights of people who use our service, helping them to lead independent lifestyles.”

By placing individuals at the core of our organisation, we have an expert understanding of disability and complex needs. Concentrating on safe, person-centred plans, we embrace risk and foster independence through progression pathways.

We have a vast amount of experience in providing living environments that resemble an individual’s ordinary family home as closely as possible. We work with the individual, helping them to move on into more independent living lifestyles. We see ourselves as a part of the jigsaw in moving into the community again.

Person-centred planning

Person-centred planning is a way of helping someone to plan their life and support, focusing on what’s important to the person.

Person-centred planning has five key features:

  • The person is at the centre of the planning process
  • Family and friends are partners in planning
  • The plan shows what is important to a person now and for the future and what support they need
  • The plan helps the person to be part of a community of their choosing and helps the community to welcome them
  • The plan puts into action what a person wants for their life and keeps on listening – the plan remains ‘live’

Person-centred planning makes sure that anyone living with us has the absolute best chance of experiencing new and innovative things each and every day. This enhances their independence and improves their life skills. Our team works very closely with every person in our care, devising monthly activity plans, daily work diaries and finding out what it is that everyone would like to achieve. Altogether, this ensures that each person’s feelings and aspirations are not only heard but are acted on.

Our team can often be seen out and about, going to the local cinema, restaurants, swimming, farm parks, theme parks and bingo as well as more creative requests such as games workshops and castle visits. We also provide many more day and night time activities and events, giving both social interaction for our residents with each other and also integrating into every day communities and lifestyles to increase social interaction opportunities at all levels.

Every person’s aspirations are our priority and we aim to make their lives as fulfilling and rewarding as possible.
